“Caring for your well is caring for your family!”

Well Aware Phase III is a project of Green Communities Canada that receives funding support from the Ontario Ministry of the Environment. It is endorsed by the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors - Ontario Branch, Conservation Ontario and the Ontario Federation of Agriculture. We receive technical support from the Ontario Ground Water Association and the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario. The recent Water Well Sustainability in Ontario – Expert Panel Report enthusiastically endorsed the Well Aware program.

Phase III has two main components: a public Forum held in each of the eight communities involved in the project, and Guided Self Assessments (or GSAs) at the homes of well owners interested in learning more about well stewardship and the protection of their own water supply.

We will hold a forum in Eganville, likely in early July, as a means of informing as many Eganville-area people as possible about the program, and to encourage local residents to take advantage of the Well Aware booklet and information kits. Then, 50 GSAs will take place over the summer months.

The well visits are very thorough and will take between 1½ to 2½ hours. They are free, voluntary, and confidential.

In the Eganville area, the Well Aware program is being managed by The Action Centre. To learn more about Well Aware in Renfrew County, call The Action Centre at 628-9285.
