Over four hundred graduates in the GLPOA Pleasure Craft Operators Course

Saturday July 3, 2010 marked another successful presentation by Golden Lake Property Owners Association of its Pleasure Craft Operators Course.  This year 69 students enrolled and all passed the test, bringing the four-year total to over four-hundred people from many of the area lakes and beyond to obtain their official permit.  The entertaining instruction is given by Jim Steeves of FreeCourse.ca.  Many people took the time to express their thanks to Jim for the experience, most relieved that they had passed, and that they’re now qualified as legally permitted boaters.

GLPOA President Kevin O’Connor and past-president Dave Lemkay took time to address the group reminding them that the deadline to have a permit in Ontario was last September and congratulating them for taking action. Most participants had pre-registered on line, responding to advertising in the Leader and in many of the area lake associations’ newsletters.

The GLPOA course is made available through the volunteers of the association and with sponsorship over the years by George’s Marine and Sports and Killaloe Sports Plus.  The school custodian, Doug Welk, does an outstanding job to ensure that everything at the school runs smoothly.
