Pleasure Craft Operators Course 2009Almost 100 attend on Saturday, July 4Our third year to offer an accredited Pleasure Craft Operators Course was most successful. The auditorium at Killaloe Public School was at capacity with 96 registrants. Jim Steeves of Safety Afloat delivered the official material efficiently with a few dabs of humour which kept people attentive through the three-hour presentation. As in previous years, all people, young and old, passed the test. GLPOA extends a "thank you" to Killaloe Sports Plus and Georges Marine and Sports for their ongoing sponsorship of this important service. Thanks also to school custodian Doug Welk for his cheerful assistance in handling this size of a crowd on a Saturday morning. With the deadline of September 15, 2009 approaching to have the boater's permit, we anticipated the large crowd that participated this year. We expect that there will always be new boaters and others who will need to obtain their permit next year, so if you're one of those people, reserve July 3rd, for the 2010 version of the course and test.
