 A Photo Report on FunFest

 Saturday, July 18, 2009

Thanks to GLPOA member Diane Schroer for the great photos and report.

The Golden Lake Property Owners Association hosted their first FunFest, on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at Sands on Golden Lake from 10 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

The morning of this social event of games and music started off rather gloomy with threats of rain.  But despite this, people came out to support the FunFest.  As the morning cleared and the sun began to shine, more and more people arrived, eager to participate in the festivities.  Adults and children alike enjoyed the games of hula hoop, mini putt, three-legged race, minnow race, basket ball free throw and washer toss.  Everyone had a fun filled time as they engaged in friendly competition with each other.

Ribbons were awarded for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in the various age categories and the game cards of the participants were entered into a draw for a chance to win one of two gift certificates donated by Sands on the Lake.

Hot dogs, hamburgers and drinks were provided by the Sands at a nominal cost of $1.00 each and were enjoyed by all those present. After the morning games, music was provided by McMillan Road Crew.  Everyone took pleasure in listening to their musical talent as they sat around eating lunch and socializing with friends and neighbours.

We would like to thank all the volunteers who made this FunFest possible.  Without your help, this event would not have happened. Thanks also to the Sands for providing the location and the food and McMillan Road Crew for the musical entertainment. Looking at the smiles and hearing the laughter, it was evident that everyone was having a wonderful time.

We look forward to another FunFest in 2010.
