Because many of our members live outside the area and yet may have
concerns about the proposed change in status of the Ruby Road disposal
site, the Association will host an information meeting on the subject on
Saturday, July 19. The purpose of the meeting is to hear from Bonnechere
Valley Township Council members, Cambium Environmental (consultants under
contract to the Township), and those who have been involved in the
consultation process and to give our members an opportunity to get their
questions answered. This
information session will be facilitated and moderated by Mr. Fred
Blackstein. As
far as we know, no one likes the idea of a ‘garbage dump’ located near
their lakefront property. On the other hand, as citizens we must
acknowledge that such facilities must be located somewhere. The current
site is located on Ruby Road near the Bonnechere Lodge Road and is about
1.5 kilometers from the south shore of Golden Lake. Some of the key issues
likely to be raised at the meeting are: Why is this site the preferred
option? At what stage is the decision-making process? What types of waste
will be disposed of? What are the possible environmental impacts on Golden
Lake? What precautions will be taken to prevent damage to the environment
and to the quality of life of lake residents? What are the implications
for traffic along Ruby Road? What
are our responsibilities? Here is more information. The
Township of Bonnechere Valley will host an important public consultation
meeting in Eganville on July 26. See below. ______________________________________________________________________________ 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 26: Official Public Consultation Meeting Hosted by the Township of Bonnechere ValleyThis
